With a focus on mindfulness, the children will experience and be taught breathing techniques that are meant to filter negative impulses into renewed sources of energy and courage. Traditional yoga poses are renamed and redefined specifically for children to emphasize the brain-body-breath connection. There will be many opportunities for children to play, explore, create and collaborate! Various guided meditations are also employed to facilitate a grounding in individual self perception and understanding.
Kinesis is a scientific term that means motion in response to a stimulus. While MIM's approach to kinesthetic fundamentals is more applicable to young minds, we cover such principles of movement as dynamics, positive/negative space and retrograde to name a few. The children have the freedom to work individually and in groups to solve creativity challenges using their gross motor skills.
